The city's sewage and agricultural systems dating back to that time are still in use today. After our breakfast we will visit the most important and old attraction of the country, the stone castle of Sigiriya. Sigiriya, which is located 116 km from Colombo, north of Dambula and where for above 2 decades it was the capital of Sri Lanka with Kasyapa as king. The archaeological site is built on a huge high rock 200 measures. At the edges of the rock is the palace garden complex and at the top of the rock are the ruins of the ancient palace. We will then depart for Polonnaruwa, the 2nd largest city of Sri Lanka built between the 11th and 15th centuries. Our city tour includes the ruins of the Gall Viharaya Palace and the Shiva Temple as well as the Kori Vehera. In the late afternoon we depart for Habarana and our hotel, where we will have dinner and spend the night.

Breakfast and departure for Kandy. Our intermediate station is the city of Dambula and the well-known complex of 5 of her caves, with an area of ​​over 2000 sq. The caves - with depth 160 meters below the ground - made by nature itself with granite, they host the Buddha Temple: one of the greatest masterpieces of Buddhist art. The temple is decorated with frescoes and above 150 statues depicting images from the life of the Buddha, with the most colossal of them having over 14 meters high. These caves were used by the exiled King Valagamba and have been assessed by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites. Next are the spice gardens and a batik factory in Matale. Arrival in Kandy in the afternoon, where we will visit the Temple of the Tooth, a temple housing Sri Lanka's most important religious relic, the sacred tooth of the Buddha. Then check in at our hotel. For the evening we will watch local dances, which have the characteristic of being completed by walking on hot coals in the theater of the city. Dinner and overnight at our hotel.

After breakfast, we start our day "royally", with a unique walk in the royal botanical gardens of Peredenigia. These enchanting gardens cover 147 hectares of amazing plant varieties, flowers and trees. They were originally planted in honor of the King of Sri Lanka, Sinhala, but it was the British who expanded them and gave them their present form. Some of the plants that the gardens host are Bamboo from Burma, Japan, the East Indies and China. The wide variety of orchids from all over the island and neighboring countries is amazing. After enjoying the royal gardens and taking a panoramic tour of the city of Kandy, we will visit an elephant orphanage in the area of ​​Pinavella, 80km northeast of Colombo. The area is considered the largest sanctuary of defenseless and abandoned elephants in the world. Among other things, we will see lame and blind elephants being cared for by the sanctuary's employees as well as small elephants taking a dip in the water and "posing" for our lens. Then we depart for the plateau of the island, Nuwara Eliya. On the way we will visit a tea factory where all the secrets of the art of tea will be revealed to us. We arrive at Nuwara Eliya, which is located 180 km from Colombo and has been named by the locals as "Little England". Built at the foot of Sri Lanka's highest mountain in height 2,555 measures, it has the coldest climate on the island and will give us an image completely different from what we have seen so far. Arrival in the city where we will have an afternoon tour. Then we will settle in the hotel and have free time for shopping or hiking in the beautiful environment or even rest recalling the indescribable and unforgettable experiences that this trip to the "tear" of the Indian Peninsula has given us, Sri Lanka. Dinner and overnight.

Breakfast and transfer to the capital of the island where we started, Colombo with an intermediate stop the city of Kitulgala. On the way we will stop at the Melsna tea center to taste high quality tea. The location is perfect for photos as it is home to the famous St Clare Falls & Devon. Then we will raft 5km on the Kelani River 1 hour. Then arrival in Colombo. A city with a mix of cultures from East and West, but also with influences from the Portuguese, Dutch and English settlers. Upon arrival we will be guided around the city with our first stop being the old Parliament building, Independence Square, Galle Beach Boulevard and the picturesque Beira Lake.
